Oftentimes, the world around me takes a hold over my thoughts. I get caught up in everyday noise and retreat into my head. In doing this, I tend to lose all sense of the fact that I am present. To combat all the noise, silence is sought after. Corporeal is a collection of moments where an image was quiet enough that I did not think; I just allowed myself to exist, to take up space. This series is, in a sense, my practice of meditation – my way of reconnecting with the world around me. I often forget to live my own life instead of watching others experience theirs. Visual silence brings my awareness to the present and lets me experience myself as a physical being. What is visually quiet becomes what is mentally quiet becomes what is.
